Inspired by Steven Soderbergh, director of Ocean’s 11 (2001), who chronicles his yearly media consumption, I decided to keep track of every movie that I watched in 2019. At the beginning of the year, I wanted to watch as many films as possible. I have come to love movies and what they have to say about history and our current society. 2019 was a great movie year and also led me to find many movies in the past that tell beautiful stories of love, pain, struggle, and anxiety. At the end of the list, I am going to put some of my favorite podcasts that have provided me with movies that I wouldn’t have watched and taught me a lot about film in general.
